National Séance 2016

Greetings, Ghostwatchers!

First, has anyone else noticed their old Teletext service has suddenly returned, or is it just me..? If this happens again, I'll be sure to let you know. Spooky, eh?

In other news, hope you can all join us later this evening, for National Séance 2016! This year marks our sixth live event, and the last before next year's big Ghostwatch Twenty-Fifth Anniversary. As always, the glorious proceedings kick off, just like the original, at 21:25, Tonight.

And remember, this year, you have the added bonus of being able to download the film and its retrospective doc, Ghostwatch: Behind the Curtains from BBC Store. It's been great to see so many Tweets and messages come in to the project since we announced the news. For those who have, thank you so much for taking the time to get in touch.

In the meantime, you might like to check out this three-part article by Craig Lines of Den of Geek, who recently interviewed producers, Rich Lawden and Lesley Manning concerning their retrospective documentary and how it came about.

Oh, and for added authenticity, be sure to play the following Continuity Announcement about one minute before we start. Other than that, again, all you need to do to take part is play your DVDs, video cassettes, or downloads at exactly 9.25pm and comment on the proceedings via Twitter using hashtags #ghostwatch and/or #NS16 - it's that simple.

Happy Hallowe'en, look forward to seeing you later, and try not to have sleepless nights!

  1. I finally got to watch 'Ghostwatch' this year on the 101 DVD release. I believe I have some new Pipes sightings to add to the collection.

    Approximate time stamps (101 version):

45:20 In crowd behind Craig Charles in front of the house. Hard to distinguish.
1:17:00 Visible in interference - hard to make out. Definitely a pair of nostrils, but no clear mutilation.
1:18:00 Again visible in interference, highly distorted. A shadow moves across the carpet of the open door shortly beforehand.
1:18:40 Behind the trick-or-treaters a figure in a long, dark outfit briefly steps out of the shadows and then retreats. If true, the only time we see Pipes moving.
At 6:00 during the interview, there is also a face reflected in the glass behind the family, though this could well be on of the TV crew.

    Worth investigating.

  2. Thanks for the heads-up! Sadly, I do not believe that Pipes features in any of these time-codes, though I shall take a closer look to be sure. He does appear during the crowd scene with Craig, but not for another couple of mins, or so. He also appears during video interference as you point out, but again, not until later on. The reflection you might be seeing is of the back of Pam Early's head during her interview (there is said to be a potential Pipes sighting during this scene, but remains unconfirmed). Also visible through the glass, is one of the large spider Hallowe'en decorations in the house.

If you find anything else, let us know! And for the full list to date, you might like to check out...

    1. Thanks for looking into them. I was aware of your earlier post listing the eight confirmed sightings. I stand by the time potential sightings I have reported and they are distinct from the ones you mention.

The reflection at the 6:00 mark is definitely separate from that of Pam's head, though as I say it could easily be the camera crew.

I now also believe Pipes can be seen standing in front of the house on Foxhill drive when the police show up, but it passes by very quickly.

I can provide screenshots if necessary.

    2. Sure! Would be great to take a closer look, if possible... Now, even more curious to find out!
