National Séance 2017 - One Week To Go!

Greetings, Ghostwatchers!

And just like that, the seventh National Séance is already almost upon us, and somewhat ironically, this year, for the very first time, our special annual event shall be taking place in a special venue amongst a specially-gathered live audience!

Hallowe'en Night, October 31st 2017 falls on a Tuesday, which is also being marked by the Genesis Cinema screening organised by Pilot Light Festival. That screening is expected to begin at exactly 21:25, so all things being equal, including a strong, stable, non-possessed wi-fi signal, @Ghostwatch shall be present to take part in the otherwise virtual proceedings.

For those who haven't taken part in National Séance before, it's so easy, even I came up with it. Basically, all you have to do is press 'Play' on your personal copies of Ghostwatch at exactly the same time it originally was broadcast, twenty-five years ago (again, 21:25), and comment on the proceedings on Facebook and Twitter using any/all of the following appropriate hashtags...

#GW25  #Ghostwatch25  #NS17  #NationalSéance
 #I❤Rich  #RichLawden4BAFTAFellowship

There is also the option, as per, to play the original opening continuity announcement for the programme for added authenticity. It lasts around forty-five seconds, so you might want to factor that into your start time by playing around 21:24.

As always, we're looking for your personal spooky stories, snapshots, creations, general thoughts on the film, stuff about it you like (this is important), stuff that you don't (not so important), and anything pertaining to the show that you might have noticed and would like to share amongst your fellow Pipes Phobes - especially including any of the potential, remaining, elusive Pipes Sightings...

And fingers crossed, there may just be enough time before next Tuesday for a last remaining nugget of special news, too.

Until then, you might like to check out this article by Kate Mossman of The New Statesman (also available in print), which contains a fairly noteworthy revelation concerning a little something that had been planned to mark this year's double anniversary for both the show and Behind the Curtains project, but sadly did not come to pass. Given the alacrity of these recent developments, I could very well write another book, at this rate.

If for any reason I don't see you, here's wishing you all the happiest of Hallowe'ens, Ghostwatchers.

Just try not to have sleepless nights...
