Ghostwatch: Behind the Curtains

Greetings, Ghostwatchers! There's a curious, repeating phenomenon that is often reported during screenings of the doc (which began during our very first event, no less). It seems to occur around the same time the end credits roll, with members of the audience nodding their heads and tapping their feet in tune to Ian Evans' inspired closing number, 'Ghost Watch' . Then, the compliments/questions start pouring in. "This sounds great." "What's this music?", "How did you get hold of that?", "Who wrote this, then?", "When's this from?", and so on. It even marks the first topic to grace the film's IMDb message board . So, you can imagine our building anticipation on catching the news that musician, Ian Evans is currently gearing up to release his follow up E.P. to 'Ghost Watch'. Conventions. They're a big deal, these days. I remember going to one of the early Memorabilia fairs at the NEC in the late nineties, and it was actually... cosy. Now, many of the present-day events have room for a plethora of dealer tables, celebrity signings, imaginative costumers, and even... wait for it... Us! Yes, this summer, Behind the Curtains shall be descending upon Earls Court for the gigantic London Film and Comic Con 2014 from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th of July. Despite on face value, Ghostwatch and Living TV's Most Haunted bearing more than a few striking resemblances, they are in fact, very different programmes at heart. The real Magnificent Seven... Just wanted to say a quick thank-you to 2013. And to all you lot, obviously. This year has been a really incredible ride from start to finish. In late 2012, Lesley Manning and I wrapped production on Ghostwatch: Behind the Curtains after a very long, but enjoyable shoot. The completed film was released in March, gracing the front page of reddwarf.co.uk on my birthday, no less. Given its humble beginnings, the response to our film has been truly wonderful - so much so that I decided to finally finish the companion book of the same name , just in time for the 21st Anniversary. In May, we had our World Premiere at Dimension Jump , and six months later, we all gathered at BFI Southbank to catch up and attend a very rare screening of the original film in an absolutely stunning theatre. This piece actually took longer to make than the doc itself, as, back in the day, I wasn't even sure that we would physically be able to make a film looking back at Ghostwatch , at all - so instead, began documenting the project in paper form, just in case. It's 248 pages, it's got new interviews, it's got trivia, it's got a Foreword by Stephen Volk, it features an extensive production diary for the doc, it includes the complete sequel story 31/10 , it's in tasteful black and white, and it contains material which some readers may find to be interesting. Update time! And just as we were getting used to seeing "2013" on our calendars, another year has already, all but passed us by. From the release of the doc all the way back in March, though to... well, today, we've been fortunate enough to have some great reviews, wonderful comments and precisely zero hauntings, so thumbs-up, all round. So... what's next? Well, National Séance 2013 will kick off on October 31st. Details here and here , as usual. (we all know the drill by now, right?) There's recently been quite a bit of talk regarding the doc being made available to purchase and view online, sometime soonish. One particular avenue that our film is currently set to be making an appearance in (from early December) is at BFI Mediatheques nationwide, as part of the new Haunted collection, and the wider Gothic season, possibly alongside Ghostwatch itself and plenty of other goodies.
